Her ability to relate to people from diverse cultures and backgrounds stems from her upbringing in South Africa and extensive world travels. This vast experience has enriched her perspective and deepened her understanding of the unique needs of families.
Marilu’s dependable and reliable nature is evident in her punctuality and commitment to following through. She takes initiative in providing support and assistance, always paying attention to the smallest details. Her training includes a Bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Sciences with a specialization in Sport Science and a minor in Psychology. Additionally, she is a ProDoula Certified Postpartum and Infant Care Doula, equipped with CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications for infants, children, and adults. Marilu loves caring for mothers and their baby’s, and thoroughly enjoys working with families of multiples.
What Marilu loves most about being a doula is the opportunity to utilize her gifts to help and support moms and babies. She firmly believes in the power of relationships and connections and strives to foster those bonds through her adequate support and assistance. Her favorite aspect of being a doula is facilitating and assisting in the nurturing of the special bond between a newborn and their parents, making the start of their parenting journey a positive and memorable experience.
Marilu’s desire to serve others and her passion for caring for children led her to become a doula. She finds great joy in assisting new mothers in any way they need, enabling them to confidently care for their newborns. With her love for babies and her dedication to their well-being, Marilu is determined to help parents feel proud of the care they provide.
Outside of her professional life, Marilu recently married her husband, a positive and wonderful person from Elkhorn, NE. They met while country swing dancing in Arizona and instantly knew they were meant to be. After visiting Nebraska, Marilu found her new home alongside her beloved husband. Together, they enjoy the great outdoors, engaging in activities such as hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing. Family time and listening to live music with friends are also cherished moments in their lives.
Marilu’s experiences have shaped her into an attentive and caring individual who excels in stressful situations and embraces interactions with people from diverse backgrounds. Her adaptability to new routines and her genuine heart for people allow her to provide exceptional care as a postpartum doula, supporting new parents during their significant and transformative journey into parenthood.
